App Icon Sizes for iOS, macOS and Android
An app needs its icon in many sizes: for the home screen, Spotlight, Settings, notifications, the Mac Dock and each Android screen density. This page lists them all. Start from one square 1024×1024 PNG without transparency and every smaller size is derived from it.
iPhone and iPad icon sizes
iOS sizes are given in points; multiply by the scale (@2x, @3x) for pixels.

Since Xcode 14 you can also give Xcode a single 1024×1024 image and let it generate the rest. The full set above is still what older projects and many build tools expect.

Mac icons traditionally keep their own shape and shadow inside the square, so leave some padding around the artwork.

Android 8.0 and later also support adaptive icons: a 108×108 dp foreground and background layer that the launcher masks into a circle, squircle or other shape. Keep important content in the centre, because the outer part can be cropped. The Google Play listing needs a separate 512×512 PNG.

Can an iOS app icon have transparency?
No. The App Store icon must be a square image without transparency; iOS applies the rounded corners itself.
